Currently, all new tenancies granted for a non-domestic property must have a minimum of an ‘E’ rating for energy performance.

From April 2023 this will extend to all non-domestic properties whether or not there has been a change in the tenancy.

The Government is proposing that the minimum rating is raised to a ‘B’ rating by 2030 perhaps with an intermediate step of a ‘C’ rating by 2027.

Building owners and tenants who occupy non-domestic buildings will be affected.
